Intravenous infusion is a major innovation in the modern medical field, but in recent years, more and more incidents of death caused by intravenous infusion have seriously raised doubts about intravenous infusion. However, the role of intravenous infusion cannot be denied. So, what should be paid attention to during the process of intravenous infusion?
Precautions for intravenous transfusion:
(1) During blood transfusion, nurses should have a high sense of responsibility, strictly implement the verification system, and strictly carry out aseptic operations.
(2) Blood should be transfused within half an hour after being taken out of the blood bank, and should not be left for too long. 200-300ml of blood should be transfused within 3-4 hours to avoid hemolysis.
(3) Refrigerated blood should not be heated to prevent plasma proteins. Calcium agents, acidic or alkaline drugs, glucose and other drugs or hypertonic or hypotonic solutions should be added to prevent blood aggregation or dissolution.
(4) When transfusing blood from two or more different donors, the two should not be mixed directly, and a small amount of physiological saline should be injected between them to avoid reactions.
(5) Master the blood transfusion speed, starting slowly at 15 drops per minute. After observing for 15 minutes, if the patient is not uncomfortable, adjust the infusion rate according to the condition. Generally, adults should receive 40-60 drops per minute, children should receive 15-20 drops per minute, and patients with large amounts of blood loss should have a slightly faster infusion rate. For patients with heart disease, the infusion rate should be slow, and attention should be paid to changes in the condition.
(6) During and after blood transfusion, it is necessary to observe for any transfusion reactions. If any reactions occur, the transfusion should be immediately stopped, reported to a doctor, and the remaining blood should be retained for examination and analysis of the cause.
(7) Blood transfusion equipment should be rinsed clean after use and sent to the blood bank for processing to prevent the generation of pyrogens.
What are the misconceptions about intravenous infusion
1. The infusion has a good effect and takes effect quickly. It is necessary for serious illnesses, and can quickly recover health for minor illnesses.
2. Regular infusion can effectively prevent cardiovascular diseases.
3. Other patients are receiving intravenous fluids, and my condition is similar to theirs. Why don’t they give it to me? Is it enough to just prescribe some oral medication?
4. With advanced technology, the quality of infusion used is guaranteed and will not have any impact on physical health.
