The mountains and waters are beautiful, the lakes and mountains are picturesque, and going out to browse is not only pleasing to the eye, but also relaxing and cultivating one’s emotions. In addition, medicine believes that tourism can effectively reduce the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, so why not go out and browse? However, after all, hypertensive patients are not ordinary people, and caution is necessary in everything. So, what aspects should hypertensive patients pay attention to when traveling?

1. The best travel season is in late spring and early summer, because the climate is pleasant at this time, which is less likely to cause a stroke due to cold or discomfort due to too hot.

2. Traveling should undergo a necessary physical examination, and for those with stable conditions, the safety of the trip should be improved. It is not suitable for the following patients to participate in tourism: patients with severe hypertension or existing complications, patients with moderate to severe heart failure, those who frequently experience angina, those with large blood pressure fluctuations, and those with severe arrhythmia.

3. When traveling, it is advisable to choose safe and stable transportation, usually by train or plane. Some people may experience motion sickness symptoms such as nausea and vomiting while traveling, which can lead to an increase in blood pressure. Therefore, it is not advisable to eat too much before taking the bus. Anti motion sickness medication should be taken half an hour before departure.

4. During the journey, one should pay attention to keeping warm, avoid catching a cold, and avoid eating excessively oily or greasy foods. It is not advisable to be too full, and one should go to bed early and sleep well at night to eliminate fatigue and restore physical strength.

5. It is best to have someone accompany you when traveling, especially elderly (elderly food) hypertensive patients. At the same time, bring antihypertensive drugs to maintain blood pressure at a relatively stable level. If you experience any discomfort during the journey, you should promptly handle it or call the local hospital for treatment.

6. Tourism activities should be stopped according to physical fitness, preferably on flat ground for hiking, and the distance should not be too far. Climbing high or uphill should be avoided as much as possible. If you feel tired or experience symptoms, you should rest immediately. Do not try to climb high as hard as you can, and if you have a lot of fun, you will be too tired to leave.
