In our current lives, we often see news reports of people falling from high altitude. If the personnel on site can rescue these people in a timely manner, there is still hope of being rescued. So how should we rescue the people around us? Let’s take a look together below.

1. Remove tools and hard objects from the injured person’s body and pockets.

During the transportation and transfer process, the neck and torso should not be bent or twisted forward, but the spine should be straightened. It is absolutely prohibited to lift the shoulders and legs one by one to avoid or worsen paraplegia.

3. The trauma area should be properly bandaged, but for patients with suspected skull base fractures and cerebrospinal fluid leakage, filling should be avoided to prevent intracranial infection.

4. Patients with maxillofacial injuries should first maintain unobstructed respiratory tract, remove dentures, remove displaced tissue fragments, blood clots, oral secretions, etc., and at the same time release the patient’s neck and chest buttons. If the tongue has fallen backwards or foreign objects in the oral cavity cannot be removed, a No.12 thick needle can be used to puncture the cricothyroid membrane, maintain breathing, and make a tracheotomy as early as possible.

5. Compound injury requires lying flat on the back, keeping the respiratory tract unobstructed, and unbuttoning the collar.

6. Peripheral vascular injury, compressing the arterial trunk above the injured area to the bone. It is advisable to place thick dressings directly on the wound and apply pressure bandages without bleeding or affecting limb blood circulation, which is often effective. When the above methods are ineffective, tourniquets can be used with caution. In principle, the usage time should be shortened as much as possible, generally not exceeding 1 hour. Mark and indicate the time of using the tourniquet.

7. If conditions permit, promptly administer intravenous fluid replacement to replenish blood volume.

8. Quickly and steadily send to the hospital for treatment.
