The main reasons why children are prone to developing chilblains on the auricle are closely related to the following factors: the auricle is exposed to the outside, there is a greater chance of cold invasion, the skin of children is thin and tender, closely connected to cartilage tissue, there is less subcutaneous fat, and poor cold tolerance; The auricle has shallow blood vessels, poor local blood circulation, and is not easily insulated.
Prevention and control should pay attention to the following points:
(1) Pay attention to exercising regularly, enhance physical fitness, and improve the body’s tolerance to cold.
(2) In the early stage of chilblain, local hot compress can be applied. When the local area is severely swollen or blisters appear, chilblain cream can be applied. When there is local exudation in more severe frostbite areas, antibiotic ointments such as compound erythromycin ointment and tetracycline ointment should be used. When necessary, antibiotics should be applied throughout the body to prevent secondary infections in injured tissues.
(3) When the earlobe feels cold, it should be gently rubbed to increase local blood circulation, but be careful not to apply too much or too much force to avoid scratching the skin and secondary infection.
(4) Wear warm clothes for children during cold seasons, and wear earmuffs or scarves when going out to keep their ears warm.
(5) Severe frostbite should be treated immediately at the hospital.
