How to identify poisonous snakes and non-toxic snakes?
It is not comprehensive enough for most people to distinguish based solely on whether the head is triangular, whether the tail is thick or short, or whether the color is bright. Although the head of a venomous snake is clearly triangular, there are also some venomous snakes whose heads are not triangular; The pseudo pit viper among venomless snakes has a triangular head.
The tails of the five legged snake, belly snake, and cobra are indeed quite thick, but the tails of the soldering iron head are relatively thin and long; Many brightly colored snakes, such as the jade spotted brocade snake and the fire red chain snake, are not venomous snakes, while the color of the pit viper is like mud or dog poop, which is not eye-catching but very poisonous. Therefore, the difference between venomous and non venomous snakes is mainly based on the following points:
1. Venomous gland
Poisonous snakes have venomous glands, while non-toxic snakes do not have venomous glands. Venom glands evolved from salivary glands. Located on both sides of the head and behind the eyes, it is enclosed in the jaw muscles and can secrete venom. When a venomous snake bites, the muscles surrounding the venomous glands contract, and the venom is injected into the body of the bitten person through the venom tube and teeth, causing poisoning. Non venomous snakes do not have this function.
2. Venom tube
It is a pipeline that transports venom, connected between the venom glands and fangs. Only venomous snakes possess venomous tubes.
3. Poisonous Teeth
The venomous snake has venomous teeth, which are located in front or behind the non venomous teeth of the maxilla, and are both longer and larger than the non venomous teeth.
