In general, if you have not received special training in first aid, you should follow the following basic principles
(1) Do not remove the injured person from the water; (2) Keep the patient’s face facing upwards; (3) Waiting for help; (4) Always keep the head and neck level and aligned with the back; (5) Maintain and support airway patency in water.
If an unconscious drowning person is found in warm shallow water, do not attempt to remove them, as blindly removing them can worsen the injury. If it is breathing, keep it in a face up position, support its back and stabilize its head and neck. If the water is too deep, too cold, or trendy, or requires CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), remove it from the water to prevent further damage. It is important to stabilize the patient in water and carefully remove them. If there is no backboard or other hard support that can be used as a splint, do not easily remove the patient from the water. Many drowning victims are found to have their faces facing downwards and must flip their backs.
Reminder: After rescuing the drowning person from the shore, the first step is to remove mud, weeds, vomit, etc. from the mouth and nose, and open the airway. Perform water control treatment (pouring water) again, and the time should not be too long (1 minute is enough). And immediately send to the hospital for treatment.
